This report highlights the importance of the transnational political engagements of Somalis in Norway, focusing mainly on their financial contributions. The authors state that whereas the political role of migrant diasporas has not been given great weight in academia or in practice, the contributions of diasporas can matter significantly in conflict and reconciliation processes. The report suggests that the government in Norway should take steps to actively strengthen positive while discouraging negative contributions of the Somali diaspora to the situation in their home country.
