The report examines shortcomings in the parallel drawn between the US led forces fighting insurgents in Iraq and British counter-insurgency strategies in the Malayan Emergency. The author argues that observers are not aware of the particular circumstances that existed in Malaya and depicts the conflict in detail. The report concludes that there is little to suggest that the way in which the Malayan Emergency was managed offers any lesson in Iraq.
