This paper focuses on Australia’s engagement of balancing its security needs. It discusses the country's security interests in a broad spectrum ranging from global to regional and domestic and in terms of capacity to protect the national territory, the institutions, citizens, assets and the international order. It further notes that the security debate has gotten wider and more complex; points that require participants to be much more diverse.
