Technologies that are designed to improve transparency and accountability in Africa have thus far yielded disappointing results. This brief investigates the reasons behind these failures and recommends ways to solve the overall problem. According to the text’s author, a poor understanding of the technologies involved and the limited skill sets of their users are some of the reasons accountability technologies have failed so far.
