This paper discusses the future of the China-Australia relations focusing on two key issues: energy security and free-trade negotiations. It point out that this relationship has grown and diversified as a result of economic complementarity and notes how this deepening of the relationship, as well as other changes within China itself and East Asia in general, present a growing number of opportunities and challenges.
