This report looks at the multiple conflicts that are currently active in South Sudan. More specifically, it explores 1) the “geography of violence” in the country and its agents; 2) the shifting nature of the state, including the ethnic and regional representation that exists in the national cabinet; 3) the pro forma commitment of the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-In Opposition (SPLA-IO) to the August 2015 peace agreement; and 4) the increasing number of attacks occurring across Juba, which are largely attributable to SPLA and SPLA-IO forces.
