This paper analyzes Africa's changing prospects. The author examines the commonplace perception of Africa as the most conflict-prone continent and the land of continuous famine and plague and identifies a number of positive trends in Africa's development. He further argues that the factors that have spawned these positive changes in the continent in the last fifteen years have been democracy and the liberal economic reform.
