This report presents the outcomes of a conference on Japan-Australia relations. It analyzes the two largest developments in the bilateral relationship, the commitment to negotiate an Australia-Japan free trade agreement and the Japan-Australia Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation. It also discusses the mutual interest in regional integration and the policy challenges that face both countries in the coming decade.
