The paper takes an in-depth look at the methodology that underpins the network functions approach within the humanitarian field. The paper is concerned with six network functions in particular: community building; filtering; amplifying; learning and facilitating; investing and providing; and convening. It argues that efforts must be sustained to promote research and experience with networks in the humanitarian context given the globalized and interconnected nature of the world.
