This paper explores the role of corruption and an individual's reaction to it in perpetuating poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. It finds that the poor are routine and disproportionate victims of corruption when dealing with public administrations. Corruption also promotes political disaffection among the poor and limits their input into decision-making processes. The authors conclude that corruption perpetuates poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa.
