This paper discusses some of the key findings of a 2005 survey on Tanzania's public attitude toward the country's economic performance. It reveals that while there has been significant economic growth at the macro-level, the effects are yet to be felt at the micro-level. It suggests that, if the government addresses those economic aspects that most affect individuals' living conditions – unemployment, water, food – it may enjoy a more positive future public assessment.
