This paper assesses public opinion in Zimbabwe following Operation Muranbatsvina in May 2005. A national probability sample survey is employed to analyze popular reactions of ordinary Zimbabweans. The report argues that the state repression backfired by emboldening its victims and deepening polarization between the two political parties.
