This publication explains Czech security policymaking during varying stages of the Cold War. It discusses the security agenda of the post-totalitarian Czechoslovak state from 1989 to 1992. Next, it covers the period 1993-1996, marked by the formation of the Czech Republic and a security policy geared to NATO and EU integration. It argues that since NATO accession, popular support for the security agenda has waned.
