This brief discusses India's interests in Afghanistan. It touches upon India's foreign policy toward the Taliban and al-Qaida, the country's desire to transform Afghanistan into an energy corridor and its concerns surrounding weapons proliferation and drug trafficking in Afghanistan. Moreover, it considers where India's foreign policy toward Afghanistan converges as well as collides with Pakistani and Chinese interests. The author ultimately calls for India to exercise a multi-pronged and dynamic engagement strategy in Afghanistan to advance and protect its interests.
