This paper explores the prospects for greater economic integration among ASEAN countries. It studies various integration strategies and scenarios to determine what an optimal configuration of ASEAN could look like. The authors suggest that the potential for closer economic integration among ASEAN countries is strong and note that discussions to continue liberalizing trading restrictions are likely to yield benefits for most ASEAN members.
