This paper examines the widening gap between a rapidly growing global knowledge economy - the discovery and application of knowledge for economic ends - and the institutional framework seeking to support and regulate it. The authors emphasize the asymmetric relationship between corporate strategy and government policy as the chief cause for the governance gap. If left unaddressed, the authors caution the gap could undermine growth in the global knowledge economy.
