This paper assesses the potential for Chinese IT firms to integrate into global knowledge networks. It argues that Chinese IT firms can successfully integrate into global knowledge networks and achieve productivity gains. By integrating, Chinese IT firms learn best practices, gain access to new technologies and can avoid repeating mistakes already made by other international IT firms. To facilitate their ingress, the authors advise for the Chinese government to back domestic policy supportive of a strong Chinese innovation system.
