This report offers an analysis of India's foreign policy since 1947. The author outlines three distinct phases in India's foreign policy from the country's independence from the British Empire to the post-Cold War environment. The author examines in detail India's distinct policy of nonalignment in its various historical contexts as well as India's role in regional and world power structures.
