This policy brief discusses US trade policy and the global development agenda. The author argues that US trade policy discriminates unfairly against developing countries, however, Americans uneasy with globalization and rapid economy transformation reinforce this arrangement. It calls on the incoming US president to adopt a multilateral posture and broaden market access, while expanding the domestic social safety net to alleviate concerns.
