This paper mulls several dilemmas surrounding the right to humanitarian intervention and peace-building. It considers the issues of impartiality and neutrality in peacekeeping, as well as the evolution of the international norm known as 'responsibility to protect.' The author argues peace is preferable to conflict, but that the moral drawbacks to establishing peace - for example erecting an authoritarian political structure - must also be taken into consideration.
