This brief assesses the Pakistani army's overall strategy to counter the threat of insurgency and the efficacy of its operational tactics. The author argues that the army's strategy and tactics in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) are infirm.
