This brief analyzes the situation before the December 2008 elections in Bangladesh. It reviews electoral reform in Bangladesh and discusses the key players involved. The author concludes that the December 2008 elections are likely to be the fairest ever. Nevertheless, he argues, much in Bangladesh politics remains obscure and political corruption continues to be widespread.
