This paper assesses the performance of Nigeria's local government, particularly in terms of satisfying the aspirations of the citizens as well as corruption of the local government officials. The analyses are based on responses obtained from a survey conducted in Nigeria in April 2008. It concludes that transparency and accountability are major problems with local government administration in Nigeria, which has resulted in lack of trust in local government officials by the people.
