This study focuses on the practice of results-orientation in public expenditure management in Tanzania. The purpose of the study is to deepen understanding of the current use of results-oriented frameworks in the planning, management, monitoring and evaluation of public expenditure in a low income developing country, and to also establish priorities for extending, deepening and tightening current practices. These priorities include improving consistency in targets and activities, improving routine data collection, and strengthening selective accelerated salary enhancement schemes.
