This policy brief addresses an initiative by the Indian government to resolve the decades old problem of the Indian communist movement Naxalism. It traces the violent incidents perpetrated by network in different regions in 2008 as well as the corresponding government responses. The author concludes by identifying challenges ahead and offering policy recommendations.
