This policy brief assesses the strategic impact of the Gaza War, arguing that it has been remarkably small. It explains the short-term character of Israel's strategy of isolating Hamas, which fails to open up new prospects for resolving the Middle East conflict. The author points to the Palestinians' difficulties in formulating and implementing a common strategy given their internal division. Finally, the paper outlines how the US and EU have contributed to the convoluted political situation in the Middle East.
