This conference report examines the relevance of national military manuals on the law of armed conflict, particularly for the Nordic countries. The paper consists of 13 conference papers that address a wide spectrum of issues associated with the relevance, drafting, content and form of national military manuals. The editors argue that the purpose of the conference report is to contribute to the debate on the international legal parameters of conflict and to enhance the respect states have for their shared legal obligations in this field.
