This paper investigates the impact of financial crises on the economic integration of 12 Asia-Pacific equity markets. The author notes that integration diminishes the capacity for diversification, which increases investors' exposure to market crises. The paper concludes that over both the short- and the long-term, the effects of financial crises were limited and integration increased broadly, suggesting a decline in diversification opportunities.
