This paper reviews trends in travel and tourism in selected Asia-Pacific countries before and after 11 September 2001, and debates whether or not tourism has fundamentally changed since the attacks. It begins by detailing the tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific region and particularly considers the travels of US and Japanese tourists. The authors conclude that nationals of both countries substituted markedly domestic travels for ones overseas.
