This paper discusses the importance of US leadership in promoting global educational advancements through the Education for All-Fast Track Initiative (FTI) and a global fund for education. The author agues that US President Barack Obama needs to back up his words on the importance of access to high-quality education worldwide with actions by channeling funds and efforts into effective public-private partnerships in the field. The author concludes by noting that global coordination and effective local action are both needed in order to lift millions of people out of poverty and prepare for knowledge-intensive global economy.
