This report presents survey findings from public opinion polls conducted in Zimbabwe in 1999. The survey looked at the attitudes, feelings and orientations of Zimbabweans on political matters related to the democracy. The report begins by situating the study in its historical setting. The authors explain the research methodology and then examine key findings related to democracy and national governance. The report concludes with the authors' interpretation and analysis of the major findings and suggests that while the 'hardware' of democracy in Zimbabwe may be flawed, the 'software' is developing in a democratic direction.
