This report is based on a public opinion survey conducted in Botswana in 2000, reflecting longstanding democratic values and a firm entrenchment of democratic institutions. The report provides background and country context for democracy and looks at specific survey findings on topics, including the meaning of democracy, perceptions of corruption and government performance. It concludes that although Botswanans as being satisfied with the political and economic performance of government, these areas need serious attention.
