This report provides evidence from India that obesity may increase the risk of asthma in adult women. The author estimates the effects of body mass index (BMI) on asthma using logistic regression, after adjusting for factors including smoking, age and education. The results show that obese women in India have a substantially higher risk of asthma than women with a normal BMI. It also shows that overweight women have higher asthma prevalence than those with normal BMI.
