This paper examines China's aerospace goals and capabilities to clarify its national geopolitical ambitions and ability to realize them. The author defines aerospace development as the production, integration and use of military and civilian devices for aviation and spaceflights. He shows that Beijing's political goals support technological development based on grand strategic, not on short-term economic, needs. The paper concludes with how America ought to respond to these challenges posed by China and its entrance to the Space Age.
