This paper examines political party formations and reformations as characteristic of South Korea's political process since 1945. It explores the political culture and aspirations for orthodoxy in North and South Korea, highlighting the impact of 1987's liberalization policies on political parties. It also discusses the 'sunshine policy' and development of the Democratic Labor Party in South Korea. The authors explore the growth of democratic ideology and state that President Roh Uri's party represents a shift toward the left. They conclude that entourage politics will likely remain characteristic of Korean politics.
