This paper explores the experience of European integration to draw lessons in regional cooperation among countries in Northeast Asia. The authors discuss the potential for a Northeast Asian Region (NEAR), examining theories and real life lessons of regional integration. They conclude with 4 examples of regional and cooperative projects that demonstrate Asia has made little to no progress toward integrating into the NEAR.
