This paper discusses the concept of strategic foresight as a tool for preserving and enhancing strategic decision-making and the capacity to act in a globalized, unpredictable world. It outlines the basic structure of strategic foresight, examines examples from Singapore and the UK, and discusses options for implementing such a structure in Switzerland. The author argues, however, that only if the benefits of strategic foresight are apparent will it be incorporated into the policy-making process.
