This report outlines the backgrounds of five major emitters: China, India, Japan, Russia and the US in light of the 15th Conference of Parties on climate change to be held in Copenhagen in December 2009. It analyzes their views on the post-2012 pact in the context of the EU position, with the EU having a convening role in the position formation for negotiations.
