Although faith in democracy remains strong in Ghana, this paper contends that the country’s recent legal tussles, including the trifling disqualification of presidential candidates prior to December 2016 elections, have spurred public mistrust in its institutions. Of additional concern is the hate speech, violent demonstrations and macho-men militias that are currently marring Ghana’s politics.
