Is nuclear strategy solely about deterring an opponent from an attack by threatening all-out destruction in response? Not according to this text's author. Indeed, he suggests that given suggestions that the US could use low-yield nuclear weapons to neutralize North Korea, it’s important to point out that this has never been the case. To highlight his point, he here examines the history of the UK’s nuclear posture, including its strategy regarding the option of using nuclear weapons first and fighting limited nuclear wars.
