This text argues that if Sweden really wants to secure a seat on the UN Security Council (UNSC) for 2017-18, it needs to 1) mobilize the African diaspora living within its borders and use it as a lobbying group, and 2) clarify how its “feminist foreign policy” is compatible with African concepts of “respect and dignity” for women.. Additionally, the text’s author proposes ways for Sweden to improve its relations with African countries and help achieve the sustainable development goals laid out in Agenda 2030.
