This publication seeks to identify a balanced approach to the components of Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) of genetic resources under the Capacity Development Initiative for Africa for the purpose of making it functional and implementable at both a national and international level. It presents several possible components that may be useful in creating a balanced ABS regime, including agreed-upon definitions, clear communication and a global ombudsman.
