This training manual provides guidance on mine and explosive remnants of war risk education (MRE) in emergency situations. It presents an introduction to emergency mine action, and looks at the areas of assessment and planning, public information dissemination, community liaison, reporting and mine action coordination and training community facilitators. The manual links directly to the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) Best Practice Guidebook 9, co-developed by the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in 2003.
