This guide explains the use of contracts for mine clearance and survey. The manner in which mine action contracting is carried out can play a crucial role in ensuring that mine action activities are effective and efficient. Effective demining operations aim to clear land in a safe and efficient manner at the lowest cost possible. In order to achieve effective and efficient demining, a high degree of quality planning and management of operational practices and assets is required. Demining processes and procedures need to be subjected to high levels of quality management, including quality assurance and quality control of the end product.
