The purpose of this case study is to document how mine action organizations are using their skills and expertise to respond to explosions, and other Physical Security and Stockpile Management needs in Congo-Brazzaville. The physical risk posed by abandoned, damaged and poorly stored and managed stockpiles and explosives is significant. In recent years, mine action organizations have become increasingly involved in responding to unplanned explosions at munitions sites in various countries, and working with national authorities to strengthen the physical security of ammunition storage depots as well as build national capacity in arms and ammunition stockpile management.
