Using lessons learned and good practices from case studies of transition in nine mine affected countries, this guide provides information on how to plan and implement the transition of UN-managed mine action programs to national ownership. It shows that while mine action programs in all nine countries have achieved significant progress in clearance, stockpile destruction, Mine Risk Education (MRE) and victim assistance, transition to national ownership remains the most difficult of the mine action goals to achieve.
