This report identifies how mine action can best contribute to ensuring that mine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) survivors receive all necessary assistance. The contributors examine the provision of assistance to mine and UXO victims in the five different cases of Cambodia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kosovo and Nicaragua. The report states that in many cases, mine action has played little operational role in direct service provision, but has been able to advocate for the needs of mine victims as well as to help to mobilize resources for the specialist health care organizations and bodies best positioned to provide assistance to war wounded and persons with disabilities.
