This study discusses different socio-economic approaches to mine action. It explains how mine action programs have improved productivity, safety, quality assurance, and technical standards, while also developing local capacities and responsibilities in demining projects. The study details the contributions of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to humanitarian demining and post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.
