This guide focuses on the inter-relationships between mine action and a country’s social and economic structures. It aims to assist national mine action authorities, mine action centers and mine action organizations in improving their planning and management of mine action programs. The authors argue that the true test for a mine action project is not whether it produces outputs efficiently, but whether these outputs are then used by local households, communities and organizations to enhance the well-being of the intended beneficiaries.
