This report aims to provide an understanding of the impact of mines, other than anti-personnel mines, on civilian populations and war-torn societies. It focuses on the case of Angola to illustrate the wide range of challenges symptomatic for many post-conflict societies. The report also summarizes the technical responses available to organizations conducting landmine clearance, and identifies some of the difficulties they have encountered in addressing anti-vehicle mine contamination.
